The Church of St. Mary of the Assumption (Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta), also known as the Pieve di Gusaliggio, is one of the most important historic churches in Valmozzola, in the Parma Apennines.
Originally established during the 11th century, the church was rebuilt in Baroque style in 1704 and later renovated with Neo-Gothic decorations and a Neo-Romanesque stone façade.
Inside, visitors can admire decorative frescoes, elegant side chapels and a 17th-century painting of the Assumption of Mary by Salvatore Pozzo.
Surrounded by the peaceful landscape of Gusaliggio, the church is an interesting destination for visitors wishing to discover the religious and architectural heritage of the Parma mountains.
