LIPU Oasis – Torrile and Trecasali Nature Reserve

Located in the peaceful countryside north of Parma, the LIPU Oasis (Oasi LIPU Torrile) is one of the most important protected wetland areas in the Bassa Parmense and a wonderful destination for nature lovers, birdwatchers and photographers.

Established in 1988 through the efforts of LIPU volunteers, the oasis became part of the Torrile and Trecasali Nature Reserve in 2010. Today, the protected area covers approximately 109 hectares of wetlands, ponds, reed beds and natural vegetation.

Nature, Wildlife and Birdwatching

The reserve provides an important habitat for migratory and nesting birds. More than 300 bird species have been recorded, including herons, black-winged stilts, kingfishers, marsh harriers and several species of ducks.

Visitors can explore peaceful nature trails leading to observation hides, where wildlife can be admired without disturbing the animals.

The reserve also features a visitor centre, educational facilities and activities for schools and families.

Spring is particularly recommended, when many migratory birds return and the wetlands become especially lively.

The LIPU Oasis is an ideal destination for discovering the biodiversity of the Po Valley and enjoying a relaxing experience surrounded by nature.
