Located in Mezzano Inferiore, in the municipality of Sorbolo Mezzani, the Acquario Biosfera di Parma is an educational aquarium dedicated to the freshwater wildlife and natural ecosystems of the Po River.
Surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Parma Morta Nature Reserve, the aquarium offers visitors an opportunity to discover the biodiversity of the Po Valley and understand the importance of protecting its aquatic environments.
Housed in a restored traditional farmhouse, the aquarium features 15 tanks displaying freshwater species found in the Po River basin.
Visitors can observe different fish, including carp, tench, perch, barbel, eels and sturgeon, while learning about their habitats and ecological importance.
The centre also organises educational workshops, guided activities and environmental exhibitions designed for families, students and nature enthusiasts.
Outside, a green area with picnic facilities provides a pleasant place to relax. The nearby nature reserve, walking trails and cycling routes make the aquarium an excellent starting point for exploring the countryside of Sorbolo Mezzani.
The aquarium reopened in 2024 and is part of the wider UNESCO Po Grande Biosphere Reserve.
