Located in Case Gabelli, in the municipality of Solignano, the Church of San Lorenzo (Chiesa di San Lorenzo) is an important historic religious landmark in the Parma Apennines.
The church has medieval origins, with the earliest written records dating back to 1039, when the original building stood within the walls of Solignano Castle.
Following damage caused by medieval conflicts, the church was rebuilt during the 15th century. Between 1760 and 1763, it underwent a major transformation, acquiring its distinctive Neoclassical appearance.
The building features a Greek-cross floor plan, an elegant bell tower and a spacious interior decorated with architectural details. Its presbytery preserves an impressive Baroque altarpiece.
Further restoration work helped protect the church's historic character, making it an interesting destination for visitors exploring the cultural heritage of the Taro Valley.
