Located in the picturesque village of Specchio, in the municipality of Solignano, the Church of San Martino Vescovo (Church of Saint Martin the Bishop) is an interesting religious landmark surrounded by the hills of the Parma Apennines.
The church has medieval origins, with its earliest documented reference dating back to 1176. Over the centuries, the building underwent several renovations, combining Neoclassical architecture with more modern decorative elements.
The church features a stone façade with a rose window, an elegant bell tower and a traditional interior divided into three naves.
Inside, visitors can admire frescoed vaulted ceilings, eighteenth-century paintings and a wooden altarpiece depicting Saint Martin, donated by the Rugarli family.
Among its artistic treasures is a historic cross made of silver and copper in 1579.
The church remains an important place of worship and a valuable part of the cultural heritage of Specchio and the Taro Valley.
