Located in the historic centre of San Secondo Parmense, the Collegiate Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Annunciation (Collegiata della Beata Vergine Annunciata) is one of the town's most important religious and artistic landmarks.
Closely connected to the history of the noble Rossi family, the church reflects centuries of faith, architecture and local traditions in the Bassa Parmense.
Its elegant interior, sacred artworks and historic decorations make it an interesting destination for visitors exploring the cultural heritage of San Secondo Parmense.
Founded in the 15th century by Pier Maria II de' Rossi, the church was enlarged during the 18th century and given its present Neoclassical façade in 1865.
Inside, visitors can admire three naves, elegant stucco decorations, a beautiful gilded wooden high altar and paintings by artists including Jan Soens and Antonio Bresciani.
Among its most remarkable treasures is the sculpted altarpiece of the Annunciation, created in 1734 by Antonio Formaiaroli.
